The Fellside Singers (Kendal) A 30-strong performing choir that meets in Kendal. If you're looking for a choir that performs then you might want to audition for The Fellside Singers. They are now led by Rachael Wadey and a friendlier bunch you really could not meet.
The Kendal Revellers (Kendal) An excellent group of singers and players who meet locally to sing folk songs and present Mummers plays and whole lot else besides. Contact me if you're interested in this group and I'll pass your details on to them. I don't know if they have space to recruit more members.
The Lakes Gospel Choir (Bowness) This is an excellent and huge Gospel Choir based in Bowness which I think also has a branch in Milnthorpe.
Amabile (Kendal) This is a wonderful young women's choir in Kendal.
Kendal Choral Society (Kendal) Kendal's Choral Society was founded in 1871 - so has an impressive history - and is a choir of about 50 members who always welcome new members.
Levens Choir (Endmoor) A classical choir with an extremely good reputation locally and probably much further afield.
Ambleside and District Choral Society (Ambleside) I can't really tell from their website whether they formally audition, but they do mention the kind of commitment to learning your words and music that's required so I suspect they do. Again this is a choral society doing classical repertoire locally and draws singers from all around Ambleside.
Ulverston Choral Society (Ulverston) Once again, I haven't heard this choir but their website looks very inviting! If you're local to Ulverston and fancy a singing commitment with an auditioned choir, this could be for you.
The Wordsworth Singers (Cumbria) I haven't heard this choir yet but they look like a choir of about 35 singers and sing classical repertoire. You can enquire about joining via their website (linked to in their name above).
