Cancer Care Singing Group (Kendal) On a Wednesday evening 5.30pm to 7pm there's a lovely informal singing group run by David Burbidge at Cancer Care in Kendal. This was born out of a conviction that it's really good for us to sing whatever our health circumstances at the time and people experiencing cancer or caring for people with cancer are very welcome to this supportive group. Contact Cancer Care on 01539 735800 for more details and to check dates (so you don't turn up when they're on holiday for instance).

A Threshold Choir in South Lakeland (Ulverston and Storth) There is a nascent Threshold Choir in South Lakeland (singing for those at the thresholds of living and dying and others in need of singing kindness) and if you want to know more about it then do contact Sasha or Jenny as below. They have sent me the following information about the group. "The South Lakes Threshold Singers is a women's singing group meeting in Ulverston and Storth. Together we learn songs to sing to those in need of comfort or healing, especially those on the threshold of life. Each session offers an opportunity for you yourself to experience the healing power of being sung to. Our gatherings include sharing circles and shared suppers. We are now recruiting new members. We are looking for compassionate, spiritually aware women who are interested in sharing the gift of song and who are comfortable being around those who are very ill or approaching the end of their life. You do not need an amazing singing voice to be part of our choir as Threshold singing is about blending individual voices to sound as one. Songs taught by ear. For more info please contact Sasha on 01229 580365 or Jenny on 015395 65870 or email firstname.lastname@example.org"
